Abdominal Scar Release Therapy

At Jimboomba Natural Therapies, we recognize that healing doesn't always end when a surgical incision closes. Abdominal scars can create underlying restrictions that affect movement, posture, comfort, and overall wellbeing for months or even years after surgery.

Our Abdominal Scar Release treatments are designed to gently address these restrictions, helping to restore mobility, improve tissue function, and support your body's natural healing capacity.

What is Abdominal Scar Release

Abdominal Scar Release can involve a combination of body work, cupping, gua sha and acupuncture. Following surgery or injury, scar tissue can form adhesions, which are bands of fibrous tissue that may affect muscles, fascia, nerves, blood vessels, and even organ movement.

Abdominal Scar Release works to reduce these restrictions, encouraging healthy tissue movement, improved circulation, and enhanced function throughout the abdominal region. Our treatment aims to release part of the rib cage, the diaphragm, the abdomen and the scar itself.

This therapy may benefit individuals with:

  • Caesarean section (C-section) scars

  • Hysterectomy scars

  • Laparoscopic surgery scars

  • Endometriosis surgery scars

  • Appendectomy scars

  • Hernia repair scars

  • Bowel surgery scars

  • Other abdominal surgical scars or injuries

The Benefits of Abdominal Scar Release

This treatment will benefit women who feel tightness, pulling or restrictions that may relate to scar tissue.

  • Improved Range of Motion: Restrictions within scar tissue can affect how the body moves and compensates. Improving tissue mobility may enhance posture, flexibility, and overall body mechanics.

  • Reduced Pain and Sensitivity: May help reduce discomfort, tenderness, numbness, itching, or unusual sensations commonly associated with surgical scars.

  • Improved Breathing and Posture: Scar tissue can create a sensation of tightness, pulling, or restriction. Releasing these adhesions can help restore natural movement throughout the abdomen, diaphragm and surrounding structures

What to expect during your session

Your initial consultation includes a thorough assessment of your scar, breathing and movement patterns, and any symptoms you may be experiencing. Treatment involves gentle, hands-on techniques applied to the scar and surrounding tissues to encourage greater mobility and function.

Some areas can be more sensitive than others but most clients find the experience relaxing and are often surprised by how subtle treatment can lead to noticeable improvements in comfort and movement. Our practitioners will always work at your pace, gently and respectfully, so you always feel safe and comfortable through the session.

When to have Abdominal Scar Release Therapy

Once your incision is fully healed and your healthcare provider has cleared you for treatment, typically around 8 weeks post-surgery. Every woman heals differently, so we always encourage you to check with your doctor or midwife first.

Even scars that are many years old can continue to respond positively to treatment. Many people notice positive changes from scars they thought were fully healed long ago.

If you have an abdominal scar that feels tight, uncomfortable, restricted, or simply doesn't feel quite right, Abdominal Scar Release therapy may be the missing piece in your recovery journey.
